Well, look no further. Doha Festival City (DHFC) has the perfect bikeways – its outdoor leisure trail caters to everyone, whether you’re an amateur, hobbyist, or even a professional. Surrounding the DHFC is a 3km outdoor leisure trail that offers a running and walking path, as well as a cycling lane built with technical trail features designed specifically for mountain bikes, DHFC announced earlier in a media statement. DHFC said the trail consists of 13 different technical trail features suitable for beginners and more advanced cyclists. Some of the features include grade reversals, berms (banked corner), pump track, wedges, rock causeway, drop offs, rock gardens, water causeway, ecoplastic boardwalk, mist tunnel, rock climbing, rollers and jerms, and a wrap up section, the statement further said.
XTORK Magazine recently brought BMX riders, Hamad Ahmad al-Sharif and Nasser Mohamed Farj, as well as MTB rider, Joy Zaragosa to experience DHFC’s outdoor leisure trail. Read on for a brief backstory about our riders and their honest but professional review of the track: XTORK Magazine: Talk about your experience riding the bike track at DHFC’s outdoor leisure trail and what message can you give to people visiting the area? Nasser Mohamed Farj: I’m really thankful that DHFC built this outdoor leisure trail because you can’t really find any track like this in Qatar. It is one-of-a-kind and I really enjoyed every moment of it, and I really encourage people to go there and experience the track. It will be the greatest, refreshing biking experience that you will ever have.
The track is smooth and “flowy.” It has rollers, northshores (raised wooden board walks), and some small drops. I personally enjoyed the simulated river crossing along the track; it’s scary but fun to do. I also like the water mist area – it’s very refreshing. I’m hoping DHFC would put some drinking water stations around the track and add more lights at night in the future.
Nonetheless, the DHFC track is perfect. Hamad Ahmad al-Sharif: The bike track has a lot of humps. The wide, spacious area gives a lot of opportunity to perform a line of tricks. I really love the area and it gives me a lot of motivation to ride even more. XTORK: How old were you when you started riding the bicycle, and who taught you how to ride?
NASSER: I was 11 years old when I started the riding bicycle.
Joy: I have been riding the bicycle since I was a young girl.
Hamad: I started riding a bike the bmx when I was 16.
XTORK: What was your first bicycle? And if by any chance, do you still have it now?
Nasser: I started out with an old bicycle but it helped me learn how to keep my balance.
Hamad: My first bike was a Hawaii brand bmx and I still have it!
XTORK: Describe your first bicycle and provide details about its color, brand, and other things that make it special.
Nasser: I don’t remember the brand but it was red in color and with brakes. What makes it special is that it’s so damn fast!
