Doha Longboard Crew the one and only diverse longboard community here in Qatar has just turn 3!
As a celebration of 3rd year founding anniversary, Doha Longboard Crew organized a longboard event that took place in the all new Al Bidda Park last May 11, 2018. The said event was named “Thalaatha Three Tatlo” which all three words in Arabic, English and Filipino means the same thing.
The event was consisted of 3 categories which were the Downhill Race, Freestyle Best Run and Longest Puck Down Slide. Supported by various groups and some international entities like Loaded Boards California, Orangatang Wheels, Broke but Stoked Apparel, Lokal Apparel, Stokass Skate Shop, Xtork Platform and Doha Pinoy Shooters Club, the said event went on full throttle. An approximate of 30 longboard riders and enthusiasts came to participate, watch and support their favorite rider.
As the longest slide begun and participants were all buttery sliding, only one prevailed. It was Jovanie Cabrera who bagged the Longest Puck Down Slide. While the freestyle best run has quite some competitors, they made it difficult for the judges to decide which one’s the raddest. After 2 rounds of tricks and style, Olan Santos was announced as the winner for Freestyle Best Run. The main event downhill racing was divided into two classes, A and B. Class B race was hectic, a battle between Brian Borja and Mhick Peremne for the finals and Mhick crossed the finish line first bagging the Class B Champion. As expected from Class A, tight battle between the racers were witnessed. Finals was so intense, everyone was competitive but Prince Wagas outran them all and declared as the Class A Champion, followed by Bruce Azarraga on 2nd place then Gustav Brandt on 3rd place. Special awards like Grom of the Year goes to Kai Alagos and Lifestyle Division to the group’s youngest and cutest, Kelly Alagos.
