As a keen cyclist I’ll start by admitting that electric bikes are not really aimed at me and therefore I should write my review from the perspective of a ‘likely’ buyer. – Darren
I was surprised by my initial reaction, the Piagio Wi bike looks really sleek with a frame design that included lots of nice curved tubing and welding. It looked great in both colours we tested (matte black and cream) and came with
all the equipment you’d need to get started. The bike in non-electric mode felt good, they had clearly worked on the geometry and equipped it with loads of high quality parts from Shimano to make sure it would last. I really liked the handlebars and adjustable stem, you could easily fine tune this to suit any riders size and the infinite twist gearing made it very easy to ride at low and medium speeds. The bars had a central computer screen with the buttons able to change the bike into all it’s different electrical modes. I ran it mainly in ‘power’ mode which gave the bike a gentle push when starting. Once you got up to 20 km/h though the battery pack didn’t seem to provide any power, which for me was a little disappointing. Overall if you were an occasional rider who wanted some help making a short weekend ride less effort then I’d say this bike was ideal. If you’re after a bike that will make you faster on longer rides then you may want to look at the alternatives.
OVERALL IF YOU WERE AN OCCASIONAL RIDER WHO WANTED SOME HELP MAKING A SHORT WEEKEND RIDE LESS EFFORT THEN I’D SAY THIS BIKE WAS IDEAL.
