Paul Holmes is a 28 year old ATV racer from Britain who currently lives in Doha. In this story, XTORK gets to know more about Paul and explore his journey as an ATV rider.
The moment Paul won the European championship at the age of 21.
Paul’s adventure with ATV racing started at the age of nine, where his father bought him a 50cc quad bike. Up until
Paul was 12 years old, he rode around on his farm land on the weekends for fun. By the age of 16 years old, he began to compete nationally and the racing began to be more than just something fun to do on a weekend. Paul adds, “ From the age of 17, I started doing national and international events, which I have continued doing until now!”
Since then, Paul won the Under 21 British National Championship three years in a row. In 2009, Paul won the European Championship at the age of 21. And from there, he was won the main British Championship three times, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
When Paul is in Doha, he spends his days training full time at the OX Fitness Lab and working with other riders to help them prepare for the future, either with physical fitness or ATV riding techniques. In the past, he has worked closely with the Qatari racer, Mohammed Abu Issa, to improve his skills as an ATR racer, as well as overall health and fitness. With Paul, Mohammed Abu Issa went on to win multiple rounds of the QMMF international Endurocross ATV events as well as 2 hour endurance desert racing in Dubai.
He also works part time as a graphic designer in the UK, so he can be close to home and spend quality time with
friends and family. At the moment, He is involved in building and preparing new race quads for upcoming seasons in the UK.
Paul has competed all over the world, but he believes that the ATV scene in Doha has an awesome atmosphere and is growing rapidly and will continue to grow, thanks to the people here. “ I really do believe that is always the people that make the difference, and the people that either host the event, or take part, everyone is friendly and we are all there to enjoy ourselves.”
