Monica Sanchez Jimenez has been connected to the sea all her life, and grew up watching her father and brother diving, fishing and surfing. She started surfing at 13, going to the beach on her roller blades with surfboard in hand. “I used to go just to get some waves! It was my passion, but also my nightmare because I had to be rescued from the water a few times”, she laughs.
Monica enjoys wakeboarding early in the morning.
“It’s beautiful, and less wind keeps the water flat, which is much better for jumping and other tricks. Through sometimes go on windy days too”, she says.
She believes that Qatar is perfect for wakeboarding. There aren’t any restrictions for driving a boat, and the weather conditions are really good almost all year round – not too cold in the winter, and the summer heat not preventing you from wakeboarding either.
“Just try it!”, she said. “All you need is a boat, rope, a board, and someone to drive the boat of course.”
WHEN I’M WAKEBOARDING, I LOVE THE CONNECTION BETWEEN MY BODY AND MY MIND. -Monica
